Meet Nundiah-Danielle Edwards

From Passion to Purpose

Born to West African-Liberian parents, Nundiah-Danielle Edwards was raised to believe she could become anything she set her mind to. But navigating the corporate world as a young woman of color quickly tested that belief.

After earning undergraduate and graduate degrees with honors, she applied for dozens of jobs with no response. A single suggestion changed everything: drop “Nundiah” and apply as Danielle—a name that sounded less ethnic. The shift opened doors to a corporate career, but it also marked the beginning of a journey that would redefine her purpose.

As a young mother in a workplace that wasn’t family-friendly, she faced the impossible choice between career success and being present for her children. When the market crashed, she was laid off, and re-entering the workforce on her own terms felt nearly impossible. But life had another plan.

From Corporate to Fitness – A Path to Freedom

Years later, Nundiah stepped into the fitness and wellness world, an industry she never expected to be part of. But once again, she found herself at the mercy of external forces—when the company she worked for dissolved, her job was gone overnight. That was the moment everything changed.

Standing at a crossroads, Nundiah made a promise to herself: Never again would she allow someone else to control her future. She was ready to take back the narrative of her life.

With the support of the very women she had trained and empowered, her community rallied together and raised $3,000 to help her launch her own business. From that unwavering support, The New Body Project was born—a space where transformation isn’t just physical but deeply personal.

The New Body Project – Built on Purpose

For Nundiah, The New Body Project is more than a fitness studio—it’s the cornerstone of her commitment to community, her children, and herself. It’s a place where people take back the wheel of their own lives, just as she did.

  • I walked by this place all the time and always wondered about what was happening in there. I actually went to an Atrium82 party in the space and learned a small women’s gym runs out of it, so I got the name to search it up. I really thought all these positive reviews weren’t all true. No way, in this day and age everyones this happy! But I'm nosey and I wanted to join a women’s studio so I gave it a try! I’m really happy I did. The community, the trainers, the owner; IT’S ALL TRUE. WE’RE HAPPY! The expectations are set from the start for everyone. I will say, if you don’t want to be held accountable then this isn’t the place for you. But if you’re like me and need that extra push, this place is it. They really do care. You can tell the owner loves her clients and the space. They EXPECT to see me when I sign up & know my name! Aside from the heated toilet seats, THAT’S A BIG DEAL!

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS

New Body Project is an attentive, postive, and welcoming gym that gives a great workout every time. As someone who's injury prone, I was looking for a space that was going to get me stronger intentionally. This isn't your 30-person workout space: this is 8 people max, with trainers that are encouraging and always down to modify. The community is so welcoming and folks know your name! And, it's all ages and bodies welcome!

I am SO glad I found The New Body Project! I really can’t say enough good things - from the owner, Danielle, to the trainers, the classes, and the COMMUNITY - it’s really been an amazing experience and I can already feel myself getting stronger each week!

I stumbled into The New Body Project about 6 months ago after not having worked out consistently in years. I was nervous and unsure, but the community at New Body Project made me feel right at home. The trainers here, especially the owner Danielle, have managed to create a safe space for women of all ages and fitness levels. I have more energy and I feel a lot stronger since joining. The workouts are fun with energetic music and trainers encourage modifications. I look forward to each class and feel amazing when I finish working out. If you're looking for a new gym to join, look no further!
